Astrolabe Engineering (legal name in Greek: Μ. ΞΙΝΟΓΑΛΟΣ – Φ. ΜΑΥΡΟΜΑΝΩΛΑΚΗ Ο.Ε. δ.τ. ΑΣΤΡΟΛΑΒΟΣ ΤΕΧΝΙΚΗ ΟΕ) is a Greek consulting engineering firm. We operate this website (astrolabe.gr) and are the data controller for any personal data collected through it under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Greek Law 4624/2019.

2. What personal data we collect and why

Contact form submissions

When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, optional website URL, subject and message content. We use this data exclusively to respond to your inquiry. Legal basis: necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

Website analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized usage data about how visitors interact with our website: pages visited, time on site, referring URL, approximate country-level location, browser and device type. IP addresses are anonymized at collection. We use this data to improve our website content and structure. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time via the “Manage consent” link on every page.

Advertising measurement

With your consent, we use Google Ads to measure the effectiveness of any advertising campaigns we run. This may set cookies on your browser. Legal basis: your consent.

Cookies

Spam protection

We use Akismet (operated by Automattic Inc.) to filter spam submissions to our contact form. Akismet analyses each submission to determine whether it is spam. See Automattic’s privacy policy for details. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in preventing spam (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

3. Who we share your data with

We share data with the following third-party service providers, each acting as a data processor under their own privacy policies and (where applicable) data processing agreements:

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. How long we retain your data

  • Contact form submissions: retained for 24 months after the last contact, then deleted, unless an active engagement requires longer retention.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics 4 retains event data for 14 months by default. We do not extend this.

5. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (notably Google and Automattic) are based in the United States. Personal data transferred to them is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

7. Security

All traffic to this website is encrypted via HTTPS. Our hosting platform (WordPress.com, operated by Automattic) maintains industry-standard security controls. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.

8. Embedded content from other websites

Some of our pages embed content from third parties (YouTube videos, VideoPress videos, Google Maps). When you view such embedded content, the third-party provider may collect data about you as if you had visited their site directly. We list these services in our Cookie Policy.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services or applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via this page.
