Astrolabe Engineering provides mapping, topographical and land surveying services to support all stages of Natural Gas, Oil and Water pipelines design and construction:
Feasibility study — Desk-based and preliminary field reconnaissance to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed pipeline routes, identifying constraints such as terrain, land use, environmental sensitivity and existing infrastructure crossings.
Basic design — Development of the reference design within a defined route corridor — topographic mapping, ground control establishment and first-pass route optimization — to support cost estimation and environmental impact assessment.
Routing verification / optimization — Field verification and refinement of the preferred alignment using ground surveys, UAV LiDAR and photogrammetry, resolving constraints identified during basic design and confirming the final pipeline centerline.
Front End Engineering Design (FEED) — Detailed topographic and cadastral surveys providing the precise geometric and legal data required for FEED deliverables: pipeline centerline geometry, crossing designs and land parcel datasets.
Detail engineering — High-accuracy surveys delivering the complete construction geometry: as-staked centerline, cross-sections, utility crossings and all spatial data required for final construction drawings.
Right of way (ROW) land easement and acquisition (LEA) — Identification and measurement of all parcels intersected by the pipeline corridor, with landowner records, compensation area calculations and full legal documentation for easement agreements and land acquisition.
Construction support — On-site surveying throughout the construction phase: stakeout of the pipeline centerline and structures, monitoring of works progress, and as-built surveys confirming the completed pipeline conforms to the approved design.
Each pipeline project draws on the full breadth of Astrolabe Engineering’s services. Land surveying establishes the geodetic control networks and topographic data for routing and detail design. Photogrammetry — including UAV LiDAR for wide-corridor terrain modelling — delivers high-density point clouds and orthophotos at any project scale. 3D laser scanning covers facility and as-built documentation. Our cadastral services handle the Right of Way (ROW) work end-to-end: boundary mapping, landowner identification, and the property datasets required for land easement and acquisition.
