Overview

Geographic Information Systems have been a core activity at Astrolabe Engineering since founding — both as standalone deliverables for clients and as the spatial framework underpinning our land surveying, cadastre, pipeline and transportation projects. We develop and deliver complete GIS solutions: from geodatabase design and data capture through to custom web applications, routing systems, and operational spatial platforms.

Services

Astrolabe Engineering provides the following G.I.S. related services:

• Data Collection (Capture – Digitization – Data Entry) — Field data acquisition, digitization of existing analogue maps and documents, and structured data entry to build or expand GIS databases from existing sources.
• Specification analysis – Application design — Requirements analysis and technical specification of GIS solutions, translating operational needs into geodatabase schemas, data models and system architectures.
• Design, organization and development of Geodatabases — Structured design and implementation of spatial databases — relational (RDBMS) or file-based — for efficient storage, query and management of geospatial data at any scale.
• Customized G.I.S. / Web applications development — Development of bespoke desktop and web-based GIS applications tailored to specific organizational workflows, from internal spatial decision-support tools to public-facing map portals.
• Installation, operation and maintenance of G.I.S. — Deployment, configuration and ongoing operational support of GIS platforms for organizations that need a managed spatial system without dedicated in-house GIS staff.
• Geocoding applications and routing optimization — Address geocoding, network analysis and route optimization solutions for fleet management, logistics, emergency response, utility maintenance and other location-based workflows.
• Multi-purpose maps production — Cartographic production of thematic, topographic and infrastructure maps at any scale, for planning, reporting, public communication and regulatory submissions.
• Consulting services, technical support and training — Strategic GIS consulting, day-to-day technical support and structured training programmes for organizations at any stage of GIS adoption — aligned with our Training and On-Project Support offering.

Selected Integrations

• National Cadastre data management platforms — Across multiple Greek National Cadastre projects (A0-30, M1-09, KT2-08), Astrolabe Engineering designed and operated dedicated GIS-based applications supporting the full cadastral workflow: field data collection, parcel boundary management, ownership records, legal rights processing, and quality assurance. Combined, these projects account for over 200,000 legal rights across 60,000+ parcels in 8 municipalities.
• Stakeholder web portal for the KT2-08 cadastral project — As part of the Ktimatognomon II J/V, a custom web GIS application was developed and operated for the KT2-08 project, providing public access to cadastral data, property lookup and status tracking across 39 local communities and 62 settlements in Pella and Skydra municipalities.
• Pipeline corridor GIS for IGI Poseidon ROW surveys — Spatial database design and cadastral mapping for the IGI Poseidon natural gas pipeline right-of-way, documenting all property parcels intersected by the corridor from the Greek-Turkish border to the administrative limits of Kilkis and Thessaloniki prefectures — including ownership records and the property datasets required for land easement and acquisition.
